On Sept. 17, 2024, Craig Holland, who is Brightstorm’s lead and senior director of investments for The Nature Conservancy (TNC), provided a presentation during Arup’s “Digital Horizons”—a three-day event series that brings together industry leaders, NGOs and government experts to discuss the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in developed areas to optimize environmental benefits for people and nature.

TNC and Brightstorm are teaming with Arup for a first-of-its-kind pilot at the Indian River Lagoon in Florida. Arup is a global firm that specializes in design, engineering, architecture, planning and advisory services related to the “built environment,” or developed areas, such as those that include stormwater infrastructure.

The event focused on overcoming barriers to technology adoption and showcased examples of AI and ML being used to improve water quality and reduce flood risk.

WATCH THE PRESENTATION NOW: The keynote presentation from Schneider Electric ends at 26:35, which is followed by a panel discussion. Craig’s primary insights begin at 37:15 and end at 47:05. (But we encourage you to watch the entire presentation.)
